Kara’s passion for uncovering the mysteries of history and preserving cultural resources began at a young age. What started as a childhood fascination with exploring the past, evolved into a career in archaeology.
As a Registered Professional Archaeologist, Kara holds an MA in Anthropology from the University of Montana, where she specialized in prehistoric archaeology. She values the importance of maintaining a tangible connection to those who came before us, using material culture to piece together the past and learn from it. While her academic focus was on Mesoamerican archaeology, Kara has spent years excavating and conducting research across diverse regions and time periods. She is excited to begin her next chapter exploring the rich history of St. John.
In her spare time, Kara creates jewelry from rock-hounded materials and enjoys scuba diving with her husband. She is honored to be part of the St. John Historical Society and looks forward to contributing to the preservation of the island’s heritage.
