Kathy Mclaughlin

Originally from Lantana, Florida, Kathy holds an associate degree in Business Administration and Marine Biology. Her love for “island living” began in 1988 when she moved to Spanish Cay, a small island, in the Abaco, Bahamas. In 1992, she relocated to St. John sight unseen and began her journey on the island working at Caneel Bay and later with Catered To.

In ’96, Kathy earned her real estate license and founded Island Getaways, a property management company. Starting small as a one-woman team, handling reservations, cleaning villas, overseeingmaintenance, and greeting guests. Gradually, she built a successful portfolio of properties. Withover 32 years of experience in property management, she considers moving to St. John the best decision she ever made.

A dedicated member of the St. John community, Kathy has served on the St. John Accommodations Council since ’96 and is currently the groups president. She has also been a charter member of the St. John Rotary, a founding member of the Community Integration Team (CIT) and now proudly serves as one of the newest board members for the St. John Historical Society.

St. John has not only been the foundation of her professional success but also the heart of her personal life. Her greatest joy came in 2002 when she became a mother to her only child, Aaliyah. Her deep connection to the island continues to inspire her commitment to preserving its rich history and culture.
